Yay! I'm a fan! I love Gyu-Kaku, especially for happy hour. It's great for groups, great for kids, great for old people, great for people who are afraid to try new things, it's just great period.
The expansive menu has loads of options for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, omnivores, and straight-up carnivores.
My favorites when I ate meat: ahi poke, bistro harami, garlic shrimp, yakishabu, lamb, pork belly.
Perennial favorites: edamame tofu nuggets, garlic spinach (hold the butter!), garlic edamame, veggie spring rolls, asparagus, garlic mushroom.
Just order everything. You won't be disappointed. The small plates are enough for 1 or 2 people, and they do add up which is why happy hour might be the better bargain. Monday all day HH! $1.50 Sapporo drafts, yes please and thank you.
It's fun to grill your own food. You can get your meat cooked exactly the way you want it done.
